Rick Kern is a multi-instrumentalist whose sound bridges thunderous low end and cinematic keyboards. He began playing bass as a teenager in Los Angeles, influenced by the iconic riffs of Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Queen, and other classic rock giants, while developing a deep appreciation for progressive rock’s complexity and scope.
Drawn equally to power and atmosphere, Rick picked up his first synthesizer in his teens and never looked back. His passion for synths grew alongside his work as a bassist, leading him to perform both bass and keyboards with numerous San Diego cover and tribute bands.
In Fatale, Rick’s dual mastery of bass and keys helps shape the band’s signature blend of driving rock energy and symphonic texture. Beyond performance, he brings strong music direction skills that help refine arrangements and elevate the band’s dynamic live sound. His long-standing musical partnership with vocalist Stephanie Robles and drummer George Dowden forms a creative foundation built on trust, experience, and a shared love of powerful, dramatic rock.
